Specimen Carp Fishing:-
Winters Lake- Is generally the hardest lake to fish at Manor Farm, however if you put the time and effort in you should get some excellent results. On the 5th of July Neil Groombridge landed a 24lb Albino Grass Carp on two imitation sweetcorn popped up. The same fish was then caught again on the 8th of July by Mr Page. On the 10th of July Lee Simmons landed a monster 40lb 4oz common! on his first trip to this lake it was caught on Nash bottom baits. Also that day Lee Wilmshurst landed a 31lb 2oz common and a 23lb 4oz common both on Nash bottom baits.
Carp Lake-Has seen been fishing very well this week on the 5th of July a 31lb 1oz common was landed on a single fish flavoured boilie also on the same day a 15lb Koi was landed on a single fishy boilie. On the 9th of July Dave Cowell landed a 20lb 2oz Common, a 16lb 5oz Common and a 14lb Common on maize and sweetcorn pop-up over a bed of particles. Best baits to use on this lake are any spicy bait and fish flavoured boilies.
Mixed Fishing Lakes:-
Becks Lake- Has seen a number of Tench and Bream being caught this week. A number of Carp have been coming out. On the 5th of July a 12lb 10oz Common and a 16lb Mirror were landed on two grains of sweetcorn on a hair rig. Best baits on this lake are anything spicy, sweetcorn and Halibut pellets.
Blunham lake- Has been fishing well this week with a lot of Roach, Perch, Carp, good size Tench and Bream being landed by most anglers. These Fish mainly come out of the margins on this lake so it is always advised to put one rod close in the margins under a feature like an over hanging tree. Best baits on this lake are Maggots, Sweetcorn, Halibut Pellets and Luncheon Meat.
The Canal- Has been fishing very well this week the aerators have really made a difference up there. On the 8th of July the Over 60’s club fished up there, the results are 1st place Frank Barrett with 40lbs, 2nd place John Leath with 29lbs 8oz and 3rd place Ken Buck with 29lbs 2oz. On the 11th of July the Manor Farm open match fished The Canal, results are 1st place James Anthony with 69lbs 4oz on peg 18, 2nd place Mark Wilson with 49lb 3oz on peg 14 and 3rd place Nigel Fawkes with 48lb 2oz.
Damsel Lake-Has been fishing very well this week a number of anglers have been catching Roach, Perch, Bream and Tench using a variety of methods mainly maggots and sweetcorn over a bed of ground bait. Quite a few Carp have been landed of the surface this week either on bread or floating baits. It is always good to fish one rod in the margins as the carp and other species of fish tend to patrol round the margins. Best baits on this lake are Sweetcorn, Luncheon Meat and Maggots.
