MANOR FARM FISHING CATCH REPORT: 22 JULY
Specimen Carp:
Fishing on the specimen lakes has continued its good form although the changeable weather has altered the successful methods depending on the day. Many fish have been caught off the surface in the evenings on warmer days, with halibut pellets or crab boilies working well when the fish are down in the water. Notable catches over the past month include: Chris Campbell, 31lb 12oz mirror on pineapple-flavoured boilies fishing the Winters Lake; 22lb mirror on the Carp Lake using halibut pellets by Daryl; Chris Mardlin has had another successful month and caught many good fish from the Winter’s Lake; Barry Kersey landed a 21 lb common on fruit flavoured boilies on Becks Lake.
Match Fishing:
We have been running an open match every other Saturday generally on the Canal, however last week’s match was on the Damsel Lake. Bags on both lakes have been very good with mixed catches of both silver fish and small carp. If you are interested in fishing one of the open matches call us on 01767 317835 to reserve a place.
Pleasure Fishing:
For all the anglers who like to just come and enjoy a days fishing not just hunting after the big ones, we have a choice of three lakes; the Becks, Blunham and now the Damsel Lake. All of these lakes are producing very well on a range of baits including maggots, sweetcorn, luncheon meat, pellet and off the surface. A fantastic 7lb golden tench was landed on Becks earlier this month by Steve Jeffs.
Those with families looking for something to do in the holidays – why not give us a call and we will be able to set you up with basic equipment and get you started fishing for a minimal cost. When buying your ticket in the Tackle Barn ask for advice as to what has been catching on these lakes, our friendly staff will always help.
Forth Coming Dates:
Taster day with our own qualified instructor on the Blunham Lake. All equipment provided. Sessions from 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm. Only £5.00 per person. Please call and book your place.
Taster day with the environment agency Sunday the 10th of August for any ages a day to have a go at fishing whether its for the first time or not this is a day were your supplied with everything needed and is great fun day. Sessions from 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm. Only £5.00 per person with everything included. Please call and book your place.
Pole float or feeder tuition on 22nd of July 9.30pm to 12.30pm, 24 of July 9.30pm to 12.30pm cost £20 per person. This is a basic introduction to pleasure fishing and is ideal for those just starting this is aimed at people aged 9 years to adult.
Fly fishing tuition- costs £50 per person. This is a full day’s fly fishing and includes all equipment, licenses, instruction and lunch. The day covers casting, knots, types of equipment, flies and more. This is an ideal day to get you into the sport before committing to any purchases. Please call for details.
