The
Carp Lake at Manor Farm was first established in 1997. The lake is stocked with
a range of Common, Mirror, leather and ghost koi Carp, which have all settled
into the water well and are now increasing in size. The average fish size is
now around 15lb, although we estimate a good head of about 20 20lb plus fish.
The record for the lake is currently a 29lb Common landed Monday 26 April 2004
by Paul Fitzgibbons on dog biscuit. Our first 30lb 8oz carp, again a common
was stocked from our own ponds at the end of April 2004. This fish should soon
come out breaking the current record.
Night fishing is available on this lake but must be booked in advance. Only
10 anglers with a maximum of 2 rods each are permitted, so it is never over
crowded.
NEW SPECIMEN CARP LAKE
- THE WINTERS LAKE: This
is now open for 24 hour bookings only. The lake was stocked with on-site reared
carp last November including a 32lb common as well as many other 20's and a
few in the top teens. In total 30 fish have been stocked in a lake of approximately
5 acres including 3 islands. The lake at present has a lot of canadian pond
weed, although clear patches are there if you look. Due to the weed and the
lower stocking level of fish this is not an easy lake to fish. but should prove
popular with the avid carpers who are looking for a challenge. The fish should
grow well with the amount of natural food in the lake, one mirror stocked at
17.5lb has already been landed at 21.5lb, along with a 22.5lb mirror and a 22lb
mirror all caught in one session by fishery regular Liam Panico.
This lake is now open for
24 hour bookings only, the plan is that no day ticket anglers arrive to fish
this lake throuhout the day as on the Carp Lake. For more information ring 01767
317835 and leave a message.
Please would all Anglers dip their nets in the dip tanks provided, thankyou.
Please note no cars are allowed around the lakes.

A 29lb Common Carp caught by Paul Fitzgibbons 26th April 2004 |
Information
Lake depths: 6-8 feet along the
"car park" swims (shallower water). Some weed growth across bottom.
Best to fish pop-ups about 6" off the bottom.
8-13 feet far north east bay (deeper water)
As soon as the water warms up the fish start to feed on the top and so floaters are very good bait and worth a try if you see any surface activity.
Bait, boilies, groundbait, hooks, line, floats, weights, E A rod licences etc are all available from our small tackle hut. See "Bait & Tackle Hut".
