This is a mature 2-acre lake surrounded by a fringe of reeds, making it extremely attractive to fish. The average depth of Blunham is 7-8 foot, going down to 12 feet in places. The lake has 23 swims and is about 20m from the nearest car park, making it ideal for anglers less able to walk. Unfortunately due to the nature of this lake, it is difficult to take cars around the lake edges and therefore blue badge holders are better to ask at the Tackle Barn and use one of the other lakes.
The lake is stocked with a mixture of coarse fish including: roach over 2lb, rudd to 1lb, perch up to 3lb, tench to 12lb, bream to 8lb and carp now reaching 23lb+ but averaging 4-5lb. This is a truly well stocked mixed fishery ideal for pleasure anglers. This lake fishes well as the water begins to warm up, and is a good starter lake for juniors or inexperienced anglers to be introduced and progress in the sport. During the summer evenings the lake produces a lot of small tench, which have bred in the lake on their own. Perch are also prolific during the summer months. This lake can be slow during the winter.
Boilies are not permitted on the Blunham Lake.
Average lake depth is 8ft down to 12 ft in places. Best fishing is around the margins using small hooks (18's) and light line (2lb). We have recently introduced a boilie ban on this lake to ensure pleasure anglers can make best use of the water. Bigger carp can be caught on luncheon meat, sweetcorn or possibly dog biscuit off the surface.
