Becks lake is a beautiful mature 4 acre lake with many features including an island and an assortment of bars, reed beds and deep holes. It was stocked with a range of small coarse fish in the winter of 1998, and left to develop unfished for a year. Fishing on this lake started in 1999 and we were very surprised with the results. Most people were broken on light line and elastic, so be warned these small fish have grown considerably, as the lake records show.
Catches on this lake include carp to 30lb, many big bream including one to 14lb, pike to 37lb, as well as roach, rudd and perch. For the colder months targeting the silver fish is normally a good idea using very light line and small size 20 hooks fishing with caster or maggot. Bags of 25lb+ of roach are possible.
Carp are prolific in this venue, with multiple catches common place, mainly double figure fish with some carp now nudging the 30lb mark. If you are in search of specimen bream then this is the lake to head for with many double figure specimens up to 14lb 2oz present. Other species include pike to 36lb 8oz, although these are not seen regularly, tench to 12lb , perch to 3lb along with roach, rudd and hybrids to good sizes. As you can see this is a specimen hunters dream lake!
